Hit TV Show American Idol has seen many talented young people who wanted to make a career in the music industry. One of these young talents is Katharine McPhee. Her fame came when she entered the American Idol in 2006, and eventually finished as runner up. In the following year after the contest, Katharine McPhee released a self-titled debut album, which ended up at number two on the Billboard 200 and sold 381,000 copies to date.
Katharine McPhee was born in Los Angeles, California, and moved with her family to Sherman Oaks at age 12. Katharine’s mother was a vocal coach and an accomplished cabaret signer. She encouraged Katharine to start taking singing lesson. During high school, Katharine McPhee performed in school plays and musicals. Afterwards, she continued to study music and attended the Boston Conservatory for three semesters, majoring in musical theater. Katharine McPhee auditioned for the American Idol competition and eventually got in. Over the weeks she had been in American Idol, she won the hearts of the judges and of the people watching the show.
American Idol gave Katharine McPhee the opportunity to boost her career and to be known by the whole world. Katharine McPhee keeps on receiving recognition for her musical work, and that is why she is still famous today. Katharine McPhee also tried on an acting career, as she has some cameos in different movies and TV shows, such as Ugly Betty, The House Bunny, CSI: NY. Katharine McPhee joined forces with famous actresses Alyson Hannigan, Jaime King and Emily Deschanel in a video slumber party made available in October. The video was a comedic take on, that promoted regular breast cancer screening for the organization Stand up to Cancer. Not only is Katharine McPhee a great singer and a good actress, but also a very down to earth woman who knows what she wants from life. Moreover, she is a huge philanthropist that is involved in many charity and health organizations.
